Welcome to my new website!

As I worked to get this site ready and transfer all of the posts from my blogger site, it gave me a chance to see what I had worked on and shared over the past several years. When looking back, it is so easy to see all the things you didn’t know, your awkward attempts stand out glaringly when you are more seasoned and have the wisdom or skill that comes from experience and practice. In my mind I see the early blurry photos, the lack of white balance, the many posts that seemed to get lost in the overcrowded party of blogs, too loud to hear, too busy to focus. But reviewing these years of writing, photographing, and sharing my favorite ways to make things I have been pleasantly surprised to see so much that I love. Most of my posts are far from perfect or widely ready, but I have continued to learn and share and looking back was a chance to realize how much I have actually done.

If all goes according to plan we will be moving into a house of our own in about a month. The farm I have often dreamed of will be a suburban homestead on a 2/3 acre lot. We’ll be able to grow lots of our own vegetables and fruit, eventually have chickens, and still be close to the ocean and to my family. Rather than a fresh start or a new beginning, it feels like a continuation of the life we want, the community we value, and a chance to really make a place of our own. This next chapter will have plenty of home renovations and garden building in addition to cooking, baking, sewing and making.

As we prepare for our move, I am hoping to send out some of my older work into the world. I have many two dimensional appliqued images that are looking for good homes (a few of them are pictured in this post). I’ll be reopening my etsy shop with these wall hangings and a few other things for sale in hopes of sharing some of the work that I love and lightening our load as we move (and maybe funding the new washer and dryer that we will need). I’ll send out a newsletter when the shop is open, sometime in the next week or two.

In my last post, I wrote about the small ways that I have been able to create a life of meaningful work. It continues to be a meandering path, a tree that branches in many directions but is still deeply rooted in living simply, creating meaningfully, and sharing the knowledge and joy as much as I can.
